Croatian music Part 2

Apart from pop, rock, jazz, and other kind of music singing in all countries, Croatia created its own, special type of music called klapa music (cr. Klapska glazba). The klapa music is a form of traditional a cappella singing mostly in Dalmatia region, however nowadays it can be sing in all coast regions or islands. The word klapa translates as "a group of friends" and traces its roots to littoral church singing. What is the most specific in that kind of music is that, it is sing only by men. It is very difficult to become a part of such a group, but when someone becomes a member it is a great honor for him and his family. The klapa group has a specify rules of singing voices, it consists of a first tenor, a second tenor, a baritone, and a bass. Although it is possible to double all the voices apart from the first tenor. Although klapa is a cappella music, on occasion it is possible to add a gentle guitar and a mandolin. I think that it is quite a amazing  thing that the klapa tradition is still very much alive, with new songs composed and festivals held. One of festival like this is The Festival of the Dalmatian Klapas in Omiš is the best known music festival and has a long tradition in Klapa music.

Klapa  Šufit is my favourite one :) I hope you will like them as well :)

This is their most popular klapa song Do not hurt my love, it is incredibly beautiful :)
